Countryman, Launched in Swift Current

Robert David Symons, Countryman, the art exhibition curated by the Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery, has recently opened at the Art Gallery of Swift Current. Robert David Symons, Countryman, the book, a co-publication of the MJMAG and Hagios Press, and a finalist for the 2014 Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport Publishing Award, will be featured at the official opening of the exhibition, Friday, April 11 at 7:30 pm.

The exhibition was curated by Heather Smith for the Moose Jaw Museum & Art Gallery. The publication, co-published by the MJM&AG and Hagios Press, and written by Terry Fenton, with an introduction by Trevor Herriot, contains full colour images of over seventy of R.D. Symons’ paintings. There is a $5 admission and a “Walk and Talk Tour” with the curator, hors d' oeuvres, cash bar, and live music. Robert David Symons, Countryman, the exhibition, runs at the Art Gallery of Swift Current until April 27, 2014. Robert David Symons, Countryman by Terry Fenton, and A Country Boy: From Sussex to the Canadian West, a new memoir written by R.D. Symons, can be purchased at the Art Gallery of Swift Current while the exhibition is in place.
