Donald Ward of Hagios Press Recieves National Honours

Hagios Press is proud and very pleased to congratulate Donald Ward, a Hagios publisher, editor and type designer for his considerable achievements of late in writing and editing. Don Ward won the $6,000 first prize in Short Fiction caztegory at the CBC Ligterary Competition for his story Badger, which will be broadcast on CBC Radio and published in Air Canada's En Route. The final jury for the CBC Short Fiction Category were estemed authors Austin Clarke, Camilla Gibb and Michael Helm.

In May the short list for the 2009 Tom Fairly Award for Editorial Excellence was announced by the Editors Assocation of Canada (EAC). The prize of $2,000 is presented to an editor wh has demonstrated exceptional skill and outstanding talent in helping to produce a work published in Canada in English or French. Donald Ward is shortlisted for this award for editing Negotiating the Numbered Treaties: A Political and Intellectual Biography of Alexander Morris by Robert J. Talbot. Congratulations also to Purich Publishing of Saskatoon who publisxhed the book.

Finalists were selected by judges Heather Ebbs, Melva McLean and Bruce Porter. The Tom Fairly Award for Editorial Excellence will be presented by the EAC at a banquet on May 29th in Montreal.
